Protect Your Boys
Protect Your Boys is an initiative designed to educate men on how mobile phone radiation poses a risk to their manhood, and what they can do to reduce that risk.
Despite growing concern about mobile phones harming the brain mobile use continues to rise. But the way we are carrying our phones has changed. Today, more and more people are adopting hands free units and Bluetooth headsets and leaving their phone in their pocket all day long.
But for men, carrying your phone in your pocket may be putting your fertility at risk. The three prime causes of male infertility are reduced sperm motility, poor sperm viability and low testosterone levels. Scientific studies demonstrate that mobile phone radiation can cause all three.
Low fertility is affecting increasing numbers of men
The same applies to men who are producing larger than normal numbers of sperm that have abnormal movement. An ability to swim strongly is essential if sperm are to successfully reach and fertilise an egg. But only 50-85% of a typical man’s sperm today have normal movement. For men in the lower range, having their percentage of normal sperm depressed even further by the effects of mobile radiation may make the difference between successful conception and being infertile. Male infertility is a significant and growing issue. Recent data shows that infertility now affects 1 in 25 men, and that 1 in 5 healthy young men between the ages of 18 and 25 have abnormal sperm counts. The impact of mobile phone radiation on fertility may be particularly significant for these men, as a lower sperm count means that their fertility is already likely to be more fragile than normal.
Strategies for safeguarding your fertility
Mobile phones are an important part of daily life that few of us can manage without. But that does not mean you have to accept your fertility being compromised. There are several ways that you can protect your future fatherhood, the crucial thing being to prevent radiation from your phone reaching your testicles. This can either be achieved by keeping your mobile far away from your private regions, or by shielding the radiation to prevent it reaching your body.
Protect Your Boys – Get the facts to help you protect your fertility
The health issues created by new technologies often take years to come clearly into focus. In the meantime, finding the information you need to take sensible precautions can be difficult. Even men who are aware of the danger a mobile can pose to their fertility, may not know what to do about it. For example, many men mistakenly believe that as long as their phone is not being used to talk, it is safe to carry it in their pocket. But if your phone is switched on it is emitting radiation at all times, whether you are talking or not.
That is why Protect Your Boys has such a valuable role to play. The more that men are made aware of the risks to their fertility, and the more information that is made available to them, the greater the chance of avoiding the tragedy of preventable infertility.
